Noteworthy Company History

In 1996, Noteworthy was incorporated in Ohio to develop and bring to market an electronic medical record for ambulatory physicians to use in their exam rooms obviating the need for paper charts. Within a year of its founding, Noteworthy was awarded a grant by Parke-Davis Corporation to develop high level carepaths and analyses for oncology and neurology. This work was performed in conjunction with the Ireland Cancer Center and the Department of Neurology of University Hospitals. Shortly thereafter, the company performed a two-year beta-test of its software at The Cleveland Clinic with approximately 200 users at three regional sites to perfect the physician user interface and more fully develop its reporting capabilities.

Between 1999 and 2004, Noteworthy saw important and substantial growth. In 2000, the company moved into its present location, more than doubling the size of its main facility. This period also saw a number of prominent ambulatory care facilities choose Noteworthy as their EHR vendor of choice. Among them were Roswell Pediatrics Center in Roswell, Georgia and Old Harding Pediatric Associates in Nashville, Tennessee, both HIMSS Davies Award of Excellence winners as a result of implementing NetPracticeEHR™.

The years 2005 to 2007 brought new important milestones. In 2005, Floyd D. Loop, M.D., former CEO of The Cleveland Clinic, joined Noteworthy's Board of Directors. In 2006, the Certification Commission for Healthcare Information Technology (CCHIT) certified Noteworthy's version 5.4 for ambulatory electronic health record criteria. In 2007, Noteworthy integrated DrFirst™ Rcopia GoldRx™ Certified Rcopia e-Prescription application into NetPracticeEHR™ giving it fully functional electronic prescription capabilities. Later that year, Paul L. Ruflin, former CEO of Eclipsys Corporation, joined Noteworthy as President and Chief Operating Officer.

In 2008, Noteworthy completed certification as a SureScripts Certified SolutionSM provider, giving NetPracticeEHR™ a direct electronic link to over 95% of the pharmacies in the United States via the Pharmacy Health Information Exchange and enabling the only true ePrescribing solution on the market. Also in 2008, NetPracticeEHR™ version 6.0 became CCHIT CertifiedSM for Ambulatory 2007. This marks the second consecutive year of successful certification through this extremely stringent certification process.

Most recently, Noteworthy Medical Systems announced the signing of a definitive agreement to acquire strategic partner MARS Medical Systems, a leading provider of practice management (PM) solutions to physician groups. The new, privately held company will retain the name Noteworthy Medical Systems, Inc.
